'Trying to take on dad and losing!' David Beckham holds Brooklyn in a headlock as they wrestle playfully... and boasts that the 16-year-old can't beat him yet

They have an enviably close father-son bond.

And even a spot of wrestling couldn't put the cat among the pigeons with David Beckham and his eldest child Brooklyn, as proved by their latest competitive shenanigans.

The handsome retired footballer, 40, shared a sneak peek of what life is like in the Beckham household at the weekend, showing himself and the 16-year-old locked in wrestling mode.

However, it was clear that David was winning and still stronger than his rapidly growing son, a cheeky grin on his face as he held the teen in a headlock.

Along with the tussle snap - which showed the star wearing a white t-shirt and jeans, his huge grin more handsome than ever - he boasted that he's still the strongest.

'Just a normal Sunday in the Beckham household .. Master Brooklyn trying to take on 40 year old dad and losing again #dontmesswithdad #nexttimeson @brooklynbeckham,' he wrote.

But Brooklyn didn't wait around to prove that it's not always the father of the Beckham clan who always wins.

He too shared a snap, a matching black and white image, on his own Instagram page.

And in his photo, he seemed to be the one in control, gripping his arms around dad David's neck while wrestling him to the perfectly wood-panelled floor.

He retorted: 'In your dreams dad @davidbeckham.'
