Three theme parks will open in Dubai in October 2016, but a Turkish newspaper has reported that Dubai-based developer Emaar Properties is likely to tie up with Rixos Hotels on a TL 1.2 billion (Dh1.5 billion) theme park project in Belek, Antalya.
The Land of Legends in Belek, Antalya, opens in May, ‘Daily Sabah’ newspaper said.
In a statement emailed to Emirates 24|7, Emaar said it explores opportunities with various entities as part of normal course of business.
“Appropriate disclosures are made only subsequent to finalisation of any agreements,” a company spokesperson said.
“Rixos Group and the Emaar Group were in the last stages of negotiations for the project. According to the partnership agreement, the project has three stages and will cost TL 1.2 billion; the agreement is to be signed within a month,” Daily Sabah said.
Expected to attract one million tourists to Antalya's tourism sector, the project should be completed by 2021, the newspaper mentioned.
Built over a total area of 639,110-square-meters, the Rixos Theme Park will cover an area equal to almost 76 football fields. Nearly 4,000 people were employed in the construction, and its first stage covering the hotel and the entertainment park has been completed.
